Until the time of the construction of the pleague column used to stand on the square a stone pillory. The column was carved out by a Jesuit sculptor František Baugut, the author of the sculptures on the “bridge” in front of the Jesuit College. The column hasn´t practically been changed, except of the surrounding square paving (present-day Sultysova street) used to be originally flat without elevated pavements and there were only two instead of four steps underneath the column.
Our digital archive includes a file of the eldest photography taken by Jindrich Dittrich already at the beginning of eighteen sixties in a card size.
